I can only hope that it does. But our small community was able to move mountains by having thousands of dollars of medical supplies food, water, and money to a cause that hit our hearts. Some of the stories that I have witnessed is too painful to narate. I can only tell you that because of our efforts thousands of lives have been saved. This is what we live for, that is why we care.

1. Danyiel just returned from her work out, I am poise and focus since my return from Muscatine, IA where I taught an IBM business process management Proof Of Technology. I have created my project plan for the remainder of the calendar year for our non-profit school in Pompano Beach, fl http://www.greenchildrenshouse.com, and ready for the challenges that will come in the cut throat business climate as a WebSphere Technical Professional where revenue and cost containment has been the a laser light focus.
We eat breakfast and tea every morning and this

day we unaware that my our life is about to change forever.

Since I had to finish my annual performace review with IBM, I decided to (work from home) WFH. These are the days that my wife hates as when she returns she says that I have worked all day in the kitchen eating all the snacks and leaving a mess behind for her to clean up after a long days work at the school.

At approximately, 5PM I get a note from my aunt in Haiti who posted a message on her FB.

" je ne sais pas ce que je vais faire pour le moment j attends de voir il faut d abord voir denain ce que vl on peut faire a cahaque jour suffit sa peine" She explains that there was a terrible earthquake and that she is ALIVE!! I immediatly put in on CNN, call my boss @ IBM to let him know that I need to go to Hiati and then make some fresh tea made with lemon grass from my back yard to help calm me down.

I am glued to the TV for the next 5 hours and realise that I probably can use some of my contacts and work with some of the parents from Green Children's House who have no lack of passion for a great cause when children are impacted.

I write a letter and send out a mass e-mail everyone in my address book from GCH before going to sleep.
************************************************************************************

Dear Friends and Members of the community,

I would like to take a brief moment to thank you for your tireless support of Green Children's House. Through fundraisers, parent-teacher meetings, school shows, after-school activities, and everything else that happens in the course of a school year, many of you have shown your commitment to giving our children the best possible education. As we partner with you for the education of our children, I want you to know, that your commitment does not go unnoticed.
It is partly because we care for our children and the world around us that we work so hard to make a difference at Green Children's House. As you know, Haiti was hit by a major earthquake of 7.0 today that has left many of the people in great distress in an already poverty stricken nation. It is simply devastating. This disaster hits home especially because I am Haitian-American with several family members living in Haiti. Also, because Ms. Sandra’s mother just traveled to Haiti yesterday and we have not heard if she is ok. Please keep her in your prayers.
Three weeks ago, I took a trip to Haiti to explore the possibilities expanding our mission in developing countries to provide literary to children. The nation was beautiful and I saw so much possibility in this developing country. There was so much progress and potential that it is shocking for me to learn about how much more poverty really exists in Haiti.
Tonight many people are in the dark, under rubble and debris. The rescue mission will be critical and life saving so many people. We are planning on doing our part in helping the people of Haiti. My wife and I are going to raise as much funds as possible to be a useful resource in providing relief in Haiti. We will be going to there to help the people in anyway possible but with a laser light focus on the children. We want to also invite others that may wish to join the effort and especially who may have a background in the medical profession to join us when we go to Haiti. Haiti is not equipped to deal with a disaster of this magnitude. They lack equipment, financial resources and food to say the least. They need all hands on deck.
How can you help? Please donate to GCH Foundation – Haitian Relief Fund. You can do so via check or paypal at https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=11137306 . Also, we are collecting Blankets, clothes, shoes, medical first aid kits, gloves, vitamins, formula, diapers etc. to ship to Haiti. You can bring in your donations to Green Children’s House.
I want to end this letter by thanking you again. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Whether you are able to give or not, know we deeply appreciate your dedication to our mission.

Please forward this as you wish.

Sincerely,
Dominique Louis

Next day, I check my e-mail with a viral response to the e-mail for help. People from all over had begun donating and bring in material into GCH. We had to send a second note to explain that we needed to focus on the medical needs during this first phase of the mission. I was positivly overwhelmed with the amount of generosity and friends calling me that I have not heard from in decades.

Another Earthquake in Haiti, Wednesday, January 20, 2010

FB Post:
Dominique Louis Rude awakening at about 6:05 AM in Peitionville, Haiti another earthquak. this shook the entire house and the entire medical team ran outside. our hearts beating as this has been the biggest after shock we have felt since arriving 6 days ago. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Haitian dream.I have a dream that one day the nation of Haiti will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "L'Union fait la force ."I have a dream that one day on the mountains of Port-Au-Prince, the sons of Toussaint L'ouverture and Henri Christophe will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood for a common goal to rebuid Haiti and not their own agenda.I have a dream that one day my country will be transformed into an oasis of freedom, equality and justice.I have a dream that the children of Haiti will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream that the term "poorest country in the Western Hemisphere" would be abolished and never used again for no Nation.I have dream that Haiti will no longer be forgotten in the eyes of the world.I have a dream that the resourses that once made Haiti an economical giant in the carribean will once again floorish.I have a dream that one day my children and I could visit Haiti without having to shed tears for it's fate.I have a dream that one day every building will be rebuilt, and every hill and mountain shall be made healthy with trees, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together in Haiti."I have a dream that the Unity and Humanity we've seen this week with the devastation in Haiti will continue and multiply with all of our brothers and sisters around the world going through rough times. The only way to make these dreams a reality is doing your part in contributing to Humanity with strength, determination, love and most of all faith.........

Happy MLK day!

by Loubens Jean-Louis...inspired by MLK

Love transcends All

Dominique quoted in the Sphere News! We spent all day working in the General Hospital in Port au Prince. We have doctors from the US, Switzerland, Norway and the Canadian Red Cross. Since this is one of the biggest hospitals, people keep coming here bringing people on mats, in wheelbarrows, in cars. We are mainly doing amputations- there are so many people who have lost limbs from getting crushed. I spent all day triaging people and trying to get those who need emergency surgery to the operating rooms. We had somewhat of a riot from people being frustrated about not getting care. They are angry at how slow the aid is coming. The army finally went out today. We had some troops briefly secure the hospital but they left. Security will be a huge issue at night as people need care and one doctor is the only one who will stay overnight. We have hundreds, maybe thousands of people outside needing urgent care but they will have to wait until we deal the major trauma cases. The morgue is nearby and littered with bodies. We have had many die today during clinic and more will tonight. The most moving experience of today was a boy who had passed away during transport to the hospital. His mother pulled down the towel, recognized him, and starting wailing. We told her that we needed to move the body and that she had a few minutes with him. She began a voodoo chant and was singing and thrashing about as she sent his spirit to heaven. It was such an amazing experience to watch. What we are seeing is simply unbelievable. In terms of security here, there are some looters being handled by the police but the Army needs to establish control as the supplies run out and aid only trickles in. There are people camped out everywhere, no plan of where to put those whose homes are gone and many refuse to leave the hospital grounds because of that. ... See MoreWe are going to keep working in the General Hospital for the next few days, then expand to the tent cities, which keep growing larger daily, and then some rural areas.
Sun at 10:15pm

Dwayne E Eanes
My prayers are with you and all those down there. MLK Jr. Day.

________________________________

Hello Friends and Family,

So much has happened over the weekend since I wrote you last. Let me catch you up quickly.

Dominique stayed at the airport in Ft Lauderdale all Friday night to help load the airplane and be sure our goods would get to Haiti. During this time he had an opportunity to go to Haiti with the team of doctors. He called me that evening to ask if he should go to Haiti Saturday morning. I said yes right away, although I was a bit scared of course. He was a bit nervous too but ready to serve and help as much as he can. This is what we live for and I was so happy that he got a chance to be there first hand. Also, during this time he meet many other non for profit leaders, including Wyclef Jean. They were so astounded how we, GCH Community and family and friends, were able to organize all of the medical supplies, water and food in such a short time.

Dominique Louis said on Facebook, "Haiti has turned into a war zone.... Though it has been 4 days with no food or water for most people, they have been so calm and simply praying. I am helping with pain management to 3rd degree burns. I am helping with casting factures to carrying people that were rescued from the rubble."He is also quoted in this article: http://www.sphere.com/world/article/scene-at-hospital-in-haitis-capital-is-nightmarish/19320027?icid=mainsearch3dl2link3http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sphere.com%2Fworld%2Farticle%2Fscene-at-hospital-in-haitis-capital-is-nightmarish%2F19320027&sms_ss=email

I am collecting more water, food, clothing at GCH. I will leave no later than 1pm Monday and again on Friday at 1pm. This is Dominique in Haiti December 2009. It is gorgorous.

_______________________________________

Need Donations NOW

Email from Danyiel Louis to everyone on Thursday, January 14, 2010 after learning that we have a plane going to Haiti on Friday.

_____________________________

Hello Friends and Family,

We want to thank you all for your support and prayers we have received. We have accomplished so much with your support in just two days. We never imagined we would have succeeded in raising over a thousand dollars, thousands of dollars worth of medical supplies (surgical equipment, anesthesia, IV, PICC lines, pain killers), sanitizers, disinfectants, forty cases of water, boxes of dry and can food, a van load of clothes and shoes and more.

Yesterday, Dominique and I took all of the money raised to Costco to buy medical supplies, water and food. While there we met more people who donated water and cash to buy more essentials to send to Haiti. Most of our surgical medical supplies came from our neighborhood doctors and GCH parents. Because of your support we are able to help many in need now.

This morning we packed van with all essentials and took it to the airport. (see the pictures above) They will be loading the plane this evening with our donated items. This plane has clearance to land in Port-au-Prince because it is full of a medical team and our GCH liaison.

I would like to thank all of you for donations and especially Dominique for sending out the initial email that brought us all together to accomplish all of the above.

Going forward we are still collecting donations at the school. These donations will be sent to Haiti with Mission Hope.

Earthquake in Haiti January 12, 2010

Dominique called me at GCH at about 5pm to inform me that Haiti was hit by an Earthquake. He requested to speak to Ms. Sandra at that time to tell her of the news. We learned that Ms. Sandra's mom traveled to Haiti on Monday the 11th. She didn't know whether her mom was ok when I left school. The next day we learned she as ok.

That night I got home to find Dominique glued to the television set, switching between CNN and MSNBC. We were in shock and just numb. At about 9pm after we put the boys to bed he began to right a letter. He said we must do something and he did. I said do you want to send it tomorrow morning so we can be sure it is thorough and correct. He wasn't interested. So after he was done, I proof read the letter and he sent it out.

That is how it all started.

Danyiel Louis

Blog for Dominique

Hello Dom,

It was suggested by a friend that I should create a blog so we can all read about your humantarian mission.
