Hello Friends and Family,
So much has happened over the weekend since I wrote you last. Let me catch you up quickly.
Dominique stayed at the airport in Ft Lauderdale all Friday night to help load the airplane and be sure our goods would get to Haiti. During this time he had an opportunity to go to Haiti with the team of doctors. He called me that evening to ask if he should go to Haiti Saturday morning. I said yes right away, although I was a bit scared of course. He was a bit nervous too but ready to serve and help as much as he can. This is what we live for and I was so happy that he got a chance to be there first hand. Also, during this time he meet many other non for profit leaders, including Wyclef Jean. They were so astounded how we, GCH Community and family and friends, were able to organize all of the medical supplies, water and food in such a short time.
Dominique Louis said on Facebook, "Haiti has turned into a war zone.... Though it has been 4 days with no food or water for most people, they have been so calm and simply praying. I am helping with pain management to 3rd degree burns. I am helping with casting factures to carrying people that were rescued from the rubble."He is also quoted in this article: http://www.sphere.com/world/article/scene-at-hospital-in-haitis-capital-is-nightmarish/19320027?icid=mainsearch3dl2link3http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sphere.com%2Fworld%2Farticle%2Fscene-at-hospital-in-haitis-capital-is-nightmarish%2F19320027&sms_ss=email
I am collecting more water, food, clothing at GCH. I will leave no later than 1pm Monday and again on Friday at 1pm. These goods will go out in a container at the end of the month.
Thank you,
Danyiel Louis
